Shell Mex House, Embankment, London
Following a successful contract at Royal Mint in association with Structuretone, we were invited to be Structuretone project and construction manager on site and named in the contract with client liaison and design responsibility. Total space in the Shell Mex building approx 550,000 sf gross. Shell Mex building works include complete strip out to frame internally, renewal of all plant - chillers, boilers, cooling towers, new 7 mva power supply to give 20 year life and fit out of floors to Cat A standard using chilled beams solution due to restricted height and inclusion of raised floors. External stone repairs, reroofing and faience facade tile repairs. Two floors continuously occupied by oil traders. The US client Witkoff Group team includes several financiers with project managers, planning consultants, accountants, agents and solicitors. Discussions and negotiations with Westminster City over clean up campaigns, listed building and planning consents; English Heritage and other interested parties all making the refurbishment process both delicate and demanding in many areas. The
main change features were a refurbished courtyard and new glass canopy
